History
The first mention of the village dates back to 1241.
On July 3, 1866, the Battle of Sadov took place next to it, the largest battle during the Austro-Prussian War of 1866. The main battlefield and the museum dedicated to it are located 4 km southwest in the village of Chlum.
Despite the neutrality of France during that war, Napoleon III did not like the victory of Prussia and he demanded Revanche pour Sadova (Revenge for Sadov), [4] which was one of the reasons that led to the Franco-Prussian War of 1870.
