The station was opened on March 3, 1917 , on an overpass. Near the station is the East 180th Street Yard Depot. Initially, trains passed through the station only from Nireid Avenue and 241st Street , but in 1937, after the termination of the NYW & B railway company, a section of the line was purchased by New York City, which was then renamed the IRT Dyre Avenue Line . In 1940, a transfer station was built nearby - the end point of the new line, along which the shuttle began to operate, but in 1957 a span connection was made between both lines, and residents of areas along the IRT Dyre Avenue Line were able to travel directly to Manhattan and other areas of New York, and the neighboring station was dismantled. Today the overpass on which it was located is still preserved, but not used.
