Nikolai Mikhailovich Zagu ( November 24, 1866 , Tiflis - after August 3, 1919 ) - Lieutenant General of the Russian Empire , participant in the white movement . Commander of the battalion of the 16th Grenadier Mingrel Regiment , Head of the Tiflis Military School , Member of the First World War , commander of the Caucasian Border Infantry Division . Biography

 

Nikolay Zagyu was born on November 24, 1866 in Tiflis , in the family of a real state adviser Mikhail Zagyu . In 1882 he graduated from the Tiflis Cadet Corps and entered the 2nd Konstantinovsky Military School , which he graduated on August 14, 1884 with the rank of second lieutenant and was assigned to the 1st Caucasian Rifle Battalion. In 1885, participated in its composition on an expedition in the Trans-Caspian region [1] [2] . August 14, 1888 promoted to lieutenant . From 1889 to 1892 he studied at the Nikolaev Academy of the General Staff , after graduating from which (in the first category) he was assigned to the General Staff . Consisted of the Caucasus Military District . May 6, 1892 promoted to headquarters captain . April 19, 1893 was appointed head of the combat department of the headquarters of the Kars fortress [1] [2] . On January 3, 1894, he was removed from this post and was appointed assistant senior adjutant to the headquarters of the Caucasian military district. April 17, 1894 promoted to captain . From October 30, 1895 to October 30, 1896 he served the qualifying command of the company in the 3rd Caucasian combatant battalion. On October 9, 1899, he was promoted to senior adjutant of the Caucasian Military District, and on December 6 of the same year he was promoted to lieutenant colonel . From May 19 to September 27, 1901 he served the qualification command of the battalion in the 16th Grenadier Mingrel Regiment. December 31, 1902 was appointed chief of staff of the Caucasian Grenadier Division. December 16, 1903 promoted to colonel for honors. April 15, 1905 was appointed head of the Tiflis Military School [1] [2] .

On September 1, 1910, for the difference in service, N. M. Zagu was promoted to the rank of Major General . At the beginning of 1917 he was appointed commander of the Caucasian Border Infantry Division, in this position and met the February Revolution of 1917 . August 15, 1917 was promoted to lieutenant general [1] . August 3, 1919 joined the Armed Forces of the South of Russia [2] [3] . The further fate is unknown.

Family

In 1911 he was married, had a daughter. Younger brother Mikhail (1875 - 1951) - major general of the Russian Imperial Army , lieutenant general of the USSR , doctor of military sciences , professor [1] [2] . He was arrested several times in connection with the activities of Nicholas, but the charges were not confirmed [4] .
