Etymology

Zalukodez ( Dzelikuedes ) in translation from the Kabardino-Circassian language means "sitting in a willow valley." From dzel - “willow”, kue - “valley”, and des - “sit somewhere”.

History

The village of Zalukodes was founded in 1925 by immigrants from the village of Kamennomostskoye [2] .

Until 1924, people came here annually for the season to cultivate the land and stayed until late autumn. As a result, residents of the village of Kamennomostskoye, who had land in the valley of the South Zolka River , experienced great difficulties due to the remoteness of their arable land. In 1923, they appealed to the Kamennomostsk local council with statements about their resettlement in the Dzelikue tract.

In the winter of 1924, the first gathering of immigrants took place, which decided the question of the resettlement of 100 yards in Dzelikue and the formation of a new settlement there. Also, a selection of chairmen of the new Village Council took place. Along with other issues, the meeting discussed the question of what name to give the new village. The decision of the gathering legalized the name "Dzelikyuedes" (Zalukodes).

Initially, the new village was divided into two tribal districts of Dumanovo ( Duman-kheble ) and Nirovo ( Nyr-kheble ).

During the Great Patriotic War, the village was badly damaged during the occupation by German troops. In January 1943, the village was liberated from invaders. In memory of the wars of those killed during the liberation of the village and the villagers who died on the war fronts, monuments were erected in the village.

In 1964, the newly formed village of Genal was included in the Zalukodes village council.
