Vilovatovo ( Gornomar. Vilovat [2] ) is a village in the Gornomariysky district of the Mari El Republic , the center of the Vilovatovsky rural settlement .

Previously Vilovaty Enemy is a village and a postal station on the Nizhny Novgorod-Kazan tract [3] . The population is 1360 people (2010).

Geographical position

The village is located on the highway Kozmodemyansk - Cheboksary , 25 km from the regional center.

History

The village was first mentioned in documents in 1717 . It was located on the Catherine’s tract leading to Siberia. On the tract itself there was a transit stage - a Yamskaya station with several yards and premises for guests and escorts . There was a post station in the village. At different times, Emperor Paul I visited the village with his sons Alexander and Konstantin , A. S. Pushkin [4] . In 1841, a parish school for peasant children was opened in the village. During the years of Soviet power, the village was part of the Kozmodemyansky canton , then part of the Elasovsky district [5] .

In the lists of settlements of the Kazan province of 1859, the village Vilovaty Vrag is mentioned under the official name, in colloquial terms - Sat-Sola , Postal . The Vilovatovrag transit stage is also mentioned [6] .

In 1875, the wooden St. Nicholas Church was built in Vilovatovo, and the village became a village. In 1941, St. Nicholas Church was closed, the building was destroyed during the years of Soviet power. In 2000, the restoration of the temple began on the basis of the house of worship. In September 2006, the church was consecrated by Archbishop John of Yoshkar-Ola and Mari [7] [5] .

The data of 1859 are given without taking into account the population of the Vilovatovragsky transit stage, in which at that time 48 men and 15 women lived [6] .

As of January 1, 2001, there were 470 households in the village, 1288 people lived (605 men and 683 women) [9] .
