He studied composition with Michele Caraf and Pierre Malden. In 1865 , he married his daughter shortly before the deceased Louis Niedermeier , at the same time heading the School of Religious Music, which he founded, where, along with Eugene Gigue , he was the main teacher; among his students was Leon Boelman .
Among the musical works of Lefebvre - two symphonies, several string quartets, mass, choirs, romances. In 1889 , Lefebvre published a guide to harmony; his guide to counterpoint remained unprinted.
