Extreme , or ostrimnii , lat. oestrimni , literally “extreme in the west” - according to Avien , the autochthonous population of the west of the Iberian Peninsula before the arrival of the Celtic Sefs there . Their territory extended from Galicia to the Algarve.
The first invasion, according to the traditional theory of invasions, occurred several centuries BC. Oe., when the Sefs and a number of other tribes invaded the Iberian Peninsula and colonized the fertile lands of the Estrimnians along the Douro and Tahoe rivers.
It is possible that the Estriniums are identical to the kinetas (koniyam), which Herodotus and Strabo mention in the same places.
Florentino Lopez Cuevillas, in his work “Estrimnias and Safes from Ofilatriya to Galicia” ( Os Oestrimnios e Saefes ea Ofilatría na Galiza ), treats them as an autochthonous substrate before the arrival of Celtic invaders, based on Roman sources. Contemporary Spanish and Portuguese historians are critical of this view.
In the same places with which Avien connects the Estrimnians, Herodot mentioned the Kinet , and Strabo the Horses .
