Hyundai Veloster

Hyundai Veloster is a subcompact hatchback manufactured by Hyundai since 2011. Sales began March 10, 2011 in the Republic of Korea and at the end of 2011 in the United States . The car was first introduced on January 10, 2011 at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit [1] . In its segment, Veloster replaced the Hyundai Tiburon . The car is unique in that it has 1 door on the driver side and 2 on the passenger side. Prices in the US start at $ 17,800.

First Generation

Appearance

In May 2007, Hyundai announced that they were going to produce a youth car called Veloster, which will be made with emphasis on design [2] . In September of the same year, the company introduced the concept car at the Frankfurt Motor Show [3] . It was expected that the final version will be shown in January 2008, but the company temporarily froze the project, and again remembered it only in June 2009 [4] . In December 2010, the company announced that the car would have 1 door on one side and 2 on the other, and also talked about engines [5] . In January 2012, the car was presented at the Detroit Auto Show. In August 2012, the company announced that it also intended to release a charged version of the car [6] . The car was also shown at the Motor Show 2013 in Belarus [7] .

Specifications

Veloster is available with 3 1.6-liter gasoline engines , and the turbocharged Gamma TCi GDi G4FJ was the first among other cars of the company [8] . It is available in 2 versions: 186 and 204 horsepower . Gearboxes 3: 6-speed manual , automatic and robotic .

Awards and reviews

  • In September 2011, the car was nominated for the title "Car of the Year" in Europe [9] .
  • In October of the same year, Veloster was nominated for the title "Car of the Year" in the United States [10] .
  • Playboy magazine praised the car in December of that year [11] .
  • In November 2012, Hyundai paid compensation to the owners of Veloster for underestimating the fuel consumption of the car [12] .
  • In March 2014, American specialists at the Vincentric analytical agency compiled a list of the most profitable cars. Hyundai Veloster was named the most profitable subcompact car [13] .

Interesting Facts

In June 2013, Hyundai created a version of the Zombie Survival Machine for protection in the event of a zombie apocalypse. It was featured at the Comic-Con comic book show in San Diego . This car is also present in the game for smartphones [14] .

Hyundai Veloster 2019
