Factory highway (Samara)

The name of the highway was due to the numerous factories located in the area.

In the 1930s, a military unit was stationed on the site of the current State Bank, on Zavodskoye Shosse. In the building of the State Bank there was a headquarters of a military unit, and in brick two-story houses there were barracks. The Steelworks, Strommashina and KRS ^[1] plants are located on the territories of the tank and airdrome. The building served as a hangar, which later became one of the buildings of the Steel Plant. On the territory of the Frunze plant ^{[2] there} was a small airdrome where postal planes landed, the runways were unpaved ^[3] .

During World War II , many enterprises of the defense industry from the European part of the RSFSR were evacuated to the city of Kuibyshev . And in the area of Bezymyanka , the railway and the Zavodskoye Highway, the main production potential of the city of Kuibyshev was concentrated ^[4] .

Even during construction, Zavodskoye Shosse was conceived as the main axis of the city’s largest industrial zone. This was facilitated by a number of factors, including remoteness from dense residential development, proximity to railway tracks, and also good highway throughput. Although the relevance of the latter factor is very controversial today in connection with the constant congestion of the road with kilometers of traffic jams of trucks and the deterioration of the roadbed ^[5] .

During the pre-war planning of the Bezymyanka working area, a completely ecological principle was observed - the industrial zone was located on one side of the railway (closer to the Samara River ), and the residential zone on the other (closer to the main areas of the city) ^[3] . However, later this principle could not be observed.

Currently, Zavodskoye Shosse has become the most ambitious congestion place for commercial space, the volume of which is easier to calculate in hectares, rather than square meters; these are small, medium and large industrial and production enterprises. Zavodskoye Shosse is characterized by spontaneous numbering of houses and buildings (for example, almost opposite the building on Zavodskoye Shosse 101, the building is located at 16 Zavodskoye Shosse), a huge number of letters and cases under one number. ^[5] Moreover, each structure can have several tens of thousands of square meters. All the main types of commercial space are represented here: retail, office, warehouse, industrial and universal, but the segment leader in terms of volume is the warehouse segment. ^[five]

Residential buildings

It is generally accepted that the share of residential buildings on Zavodskoye Shosse is insignificant. “Zavodskoye Shosse is a purely industrial street in Samara, so the almost complete absence of residential buildings here is not an accidental fact, but a well-grounded regularity. You can’t live there, and if you can, it is very bad for your health, ”writes Rent & Sale magazine. However, there are residential districts between the railway and the highway, for example, in the area of ​​the Kirkombinat railway platform ^[10] , and also at the end of the highway in the Yungorodok and Aviagorodok microdistricts. ^[5] On Zavodskoye Shosse there is one secondary school No. 8, one art school and two teenage clubs (all in the Yungorodok microdistrict).

Sports venues

At the intersection of Zavodskoye Shosse and Kirov Avenue, there is an abandoned Voskhod stadium belonging to the Kuznetsov plant. In the future, it is planned to transfer the stadium to the ownership of the Samara region. ^[eleven]

Maltsev’s driveway (formerly the largest meat factory in the city) that was located outside the Zavodskoye Highway contains the Samara Fat Plant , the Samaralakto, U Palycha fleet and other food production facilities, as well as the Samara Steel Plant ^{[12] [13]} , Samara Boiler Plant - auxiliary equipment and pipelines ^[14] .

Tram

The construction of the tram line along Zavodskoye Shosse began in 1943 - it was necessary to provide passenger communication between the residential areas of the city and the new industrial zone, where Plant No. 18 of the People’s Commissariat for Aviation Industry and Plant No. 1 of the Special Construction Directorate were located ^[15] . At that time, even tram route No. 4 was on the balance sheet of the People’s Commissariat of the aviation industry (and not the Tram-trolleybus department).

In 1955, a new tram line ran from Zavodskoye Shosse to the Carbide Plant, Ekran Plant and Bezymyanskaya TPP . Construction was carried out at the expense of Plant No. 81 MAP .

In the fall of 1962, a new line was put into operation, 7.5 km from the Myasokombinat ring (it was dismantled), along a new overpass through the railroads and further along 22nd Party Congress Street and Zavodskoye Shosse, past the them. Frunze, to the intersection with Kirov Avenue.

The turn tram ring on Zavodskoye Shosse was built in 1988.

Now Zavodskoy highway runs trams of routes 2, 3, 12, 19, 21 ^[16]

Underground

the Kirovskaya and Yungorodok stations are located near the Zavodskoye Shosse. These are the oldest stations of the Samara metro.

Electric train

The Zavodskoye Highway runs parallel to the branch of the Kuibyshev Railway on the Samara-Kinel section. Platforms: Kirkombinat, Stakhanovskaya, Bezymyanka , Five-Year Plan , Mirnaya.

Heavy transport

A large load on the roadway leads to rapid deterioration of the asphalt surface, as a result, almost every year Zavodskoye highway needs to be repaired. ^[17] The load on the highway will increase further when a section of the road connecting the new Kirovsky Bridge with the Zavodskoye Highway is built. ^[18]
