During the Great Patriotic War, Sergei Sikorsky was one of the organizers and leaders of the partisan movement in the enemy-occupied Vitebsk and Brest regions of the Byelorussian SSR .

Biography
Sergei Ivanovich Sikorsky was born on August 29 (September 11), 1907, in Bobruisk, now in the Mogilev region of Belarus, into a working class family.
In 1929 he was drafted into the ranks of the Red Army , and in 1930 was demobilized. From the same year he was at party work and joined the ranks of the CPSU (b) .
In 1937, Sikorsky graduated from the Higher Communist Agricultural School of Belarus named after Lenin.
In June 1941, he was re-drafted into the ranks of the Red Army. In the same year he graduated from the Higher Courses of Political Composition .
In November 1942, Sikorsky was appointed to the post of authorized representative of the CP (b) B Central Committee in the Brest region, and in April 1943 - to the post of commander of the Brest partisan formation and at the same time as secretary of the Brest underground committee of the CP (b) B.
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of January 1, 1944, for the exemplary fulfillment of command tasks behind enemy lines and special merits in the development of the partisan movement in Belarus, Colonel Sergei Ivanovich Sikorsky was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin (No. 52532) and the Golden Star medal (No. 4049).
In July 1944, Colonel Sikorsky went into reserve.
In 1949 he graduated from the Higher Party School under the Central Committee of the All-Union Communist Party of Bolsheviks (Bolsheviks) , after which he worked as secretary of the Baranavichy regional committee of the Communist Party of Belarus, deputy minister of agriculture of the Byelorussian SSR, first secretary of the Mogilev regional committee of the Communist Party of Belarus, and minister of internal affairs of the Byelorussian SSR.
At the XX — XXIV congresses of the CPB, Sikorsky was elected a member of the Central Committee of the CPB . Member of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of the 4th and 5th convocations , Supreme Council of the Byelorussian SSR of the 3rd convocation.
He lived in Minsk , where he died on April 28, 1960 . He was buried in the Military cemetery .

Every year at the Brest State University named after A.S. Pushkin a basketball tournament for the prize named after the Hero of the Soviet Union S.I.Sikorsky is held.
