Biography
Felix von Tyumen was born on February 6, 1839 in the German city of Dresden . At the age of 19, Tyumen began serving in the Prussian army, but after falling from a horse, he resigned. For some time he was engaged in agriculture, but soon, being under the influence of Ludwig Reichenbach , he decided to devote his life to mycology and phytopathology. In 1876, he began working as an assistant chemistry and physiology at the vineyard station in Klosterneuburg , not far from Vienna. Then he lived for some time in Vienna , Berlin and Gorizia . Felix Tyumen died on October 13, 1892 in the city of Teplitz-Schonau (now Teplice ) after a long heart disease.
Felix Tyumen was a member of the Prussian Royal Academy of Sciences. He published many scientific papers that described the mushrooms of Eurasia , Africa and North America .
