Nikolai Ivanovich Tolkachev ( 1899 - 1942 ) - Soviet military and party leader, journalist, brigade commissar , deputy of the Supreme Council of the RSFSR , participant in the Civil War , the conflict on the CER , the Great Patriotic War . After the defeat of his division, he took part in the partisan movement and was hanged by the Germans.

Biography
Nikolai Tolkachev was born in 1899 in a working class family. In 1918 he was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In 1920 he joined the CPSU (b) . He took part in the Civil War. He served in military-political posts. Participated in the conflict on the CER in 1929 . Since the mid-1930s, Tolkachev served as commissioner of the 85th Infantry Division in the Chelyabinsk Region . In 1938 he was elected to the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR, was a delegate from the Chelyabinsk Party organization at the XVIII Congress of the CPSU (B.) [1] .
He took part in the Great Patriotic War, was seriously wounded in both legs in battles near the state border of the USSR in late June 1941 . In an unconscious state, he was captured and was taken to hospital. The medical workers A. A. Mokhov and A. I. Kupreschenkov cured Tolkachev, and the communist-underground worker A. S. Ananiev helped him escape. Tolkachev remained in Minsk occupied by German troops and began to take part in the partisan movement. Until April 1942, he headed the propaganda department of the Military Council of the partisan movement, was the editor-in-chief of the underground newspaper Golos Rodiny [2] .
On May 9, 1942, Tolkachev, among 28 arrested members of the partisan organization in Minsk, was publicly hanged [2] .
Tolkachev was posthumously awarded the Order of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree [1] .
