Structure
Protein CD69 refers to integral transmembrane proteins , contains 199 amino acids . The molecular weight is 22.6 kDa. The extracellular fragment contains a lectin domain. Forms a homodimer bound by a disulfide bond . In addition, the protein contains three intramolecular disulfide bonds.
Functions
Participates in the proliferation of lymphocytes, functions as a signal transfer receptor in lymphocytes, natural killers and platelets . It is the earliest marker of lymphocyte proliferation, which is widely used in immunological studies and diagnostics.
Tissue specificity
The protein is expressed on the surface of activated T- and B-lymphocytes , natural killers, neutrophils , eosinophils , epidermal Langerhans cells and platelets.
