Biography
Augusto Napoleone Berlese was born on October 21, 1864 in the Italian city of Padua . He studied at the University of Padua, in 1885 he graduated from it. In the same year he began to work at the Botanical Institute, continued to study botany and mycology with Pierre Andrea Saccardo . Berlese took part in the processing of slimes and zygomycetes (together with Giovanni de Toni ) for the work of Saccardo Sylloge Fungorum . In 1889, Berlese became a professor of natural sciences, as well as a lecturer in mycology and phytopathology at the Lyceum in Ascoli Piceno . In 1892, he was appointed professor of oenology at Avellino . In the same year, Augusto and his brother, an entomologist, Antonio , founded the journal Rivista di patologia vegetale . In 1895, Augusto Napoleone became a professor of botany and zoology at the University of Camerino . In 1899, he became a professor at Sassar University . Since 1901, he taught at the Agricultural College in Milan . Augusto Berlese died on January 26, 1903 in Milan.
