“Massovka” ( Eng. Extras ) is a British comedy television series created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant , who acted as directors, scriptwriters and leading actors. The series was broadcast from July 21, 2005 to December 27, 2007 on BBC and HBO , in total two seasons were released, six episodes each, as well as a special one and a half hour Christmas issue. The main characters of the series are extras actor Andy Millman, striving to succeed in this field, his girlfriend Maggie Jacobs and agent Darren Lamb. A distinctive feature of the series is the use in each series of well-known guest actors playing extravagant versions of themselves.

Characters
- Andy Millman ( Ricky Gervais ) is an extras actor seeking to achieve fame. At the end of the first season, he manages to create his own sitcom on the BBC, which is popular with viewers, but receives crushing reviews from critics.
- Maggie Jacobs ( Ashley Jensen ) - extras actress, Andy's best friend. Unlike Andy, she is not particularly keen on making a career as an actress, but is more passionate about finding the right guy for her.
- Darren Lamb ( Stephen Merchant ) - Agent Andy. Darren is completely incompetent and cannot knock out any worthwhile roles for his clients.
- The Barrels of the Istenders ( Sean Williamson ) is another Darren Lamb client. Sean Williamson plays himself, but since few people remember his real name, he is called Barry from the Istenders for the only more or less well-known role that he happened to play.
