Gunnersbury ( eng. Gunnersbury ) - a district of London , part of the administrative district (Borough) Hounslow , on the north side bordering the Ealing district, located in the western part of London . Toponymy
The name “Gunnersbury” “Gunnersbury” means “The estate or manor of a woman named Gunnhild ”, this old Scandinavian name with the word Middle English language added to it - bury , which means “estate” [1] .
Development
Gunnersbury is mainly built up with pre-war houses of various types, including apartment buildings, blocked buildings, townhouses and detached houses, some of which were in municipal ownership.
In the Gunnersbury district, there is an 18-story British Standards Institute (BSI) building. Under this building is the station Gunnersbury, belonging to the District line of the London Underground, as well as receiving trains of the London city electric train .
In 2001, the former garage to the north of the BSI building was converted into the Chizik-Business Park office building. Offices of various companies are located there: SBS Broadcasting Networks , Teletext Ltd , CBS News , Technicolor , Discovery Channels Europe , Intelsat , Singapore Airlines , Qantas Airlines , Foxtons Estate Agents and the Esporta sports complex.
On the east side of the reserve is located the Triangle Gunnersbury ( English ). This is a small forest inhabited by various types of birds, plants and other living creatures. The entrance to the reserve is free and is located from the south end of Bollo Lane, a few meters from the subway station Chizwick Park .
