Biography
Sergey Mikaelyan started skiing in Ashotsk at the age of 10 under the guidance of his father Arthur Mikaelyan. In 2010, becoming a two-time champion of Armenia, he received the right to represent his country at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver , where he took 70th place in the free-style race of 15 km .
In August 2011, in the Norwegian city of Eure, he participated in the youth world championship in skiing. In the free-style race of 17 km Sergey showed the best result - 35 min. 18 seconds and won first place, and at a distance of 10.8 km finished third and won a bronze award [2] .
December 21, 2011 Sergey Mikaelyan took part in the Scandinavian Cup. Speaking in the age category up to 20 years, at a distance of 15 km in free style with a score of 38.11 seconds took 3rd place. Before that, Mikaelyan won the international tournament, which was held in the Finnish city of Muonio [3] .
In January 2012 , in preparation for the World Youth Championships in Erzurum , Sergey Mikaelyan won an international tournament in the Czech Republic, in which 350 athletes took part [4] .
In 2017, at the Universiade in Almaty, he took fourth place in the 10 km race with the classic style and became the bronze medalist in the free style pursuit. Thanks to this success, it went down in history as the first Armenian athlete to win the winter Universiade medal [5] .

Mikaelyan (Kapchikayeva), Alla Anatolyevna (b. 12.19.1969) - mother, Soviet and Armenian skier, prize-winner of the USSR championships, participant of the Winter Olympic Games in Nagano (1998), standard-bearer of the Armenian delegation at the opening ceremony of these competitions [6] .
