History

In 2002, the president of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Yuri Osipov, advocated the creation of the Alexander Dunin-Gorkavich museum-laboratory, a well-known researcher of the Tobolsk North [1] .

In early 2007, it was reported that it was decided to place in the house where until 1927 Alexander Dunin-Gorkavich lived and worked on his scientific works on the Tobolsk North, along with a research laboratory that will study local history materials on the history of Siberia, Museum named after Alexander Dunin-Gorkavich. [2]

In early 2009, it was reported that the Tobolsk Revival Public Fund and the leadership of the Tobolsk Biological Station of the Russian Academy of Sciences decided to create the Alexander Dunin-Gorkavich Museum. [3]

On September 16, 2009 in Tobolsk, a cooperation agreement was concluded between the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Government of the Tyumen Region. [4] This agreement has become a resource for the creation of the museum. The authors of the idea of ​​creating a museum are Yury Osipov , President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and Viktor Rodin, Director of the Tobolsk Complex Scientific Station, Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The museum was organized in January 2010 . The opening took place on September 11, 2010 . The museum is a structural unit of the Tobolsk integrated scientific station of the Ural branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences .

On June 24, 2011, a new exhibition hall was opened in the basement of the museum - an exposition space for interchangeable thematic exhibitions of the museum and invited exhibition projects.

Museum exposition areas include the following thematic sections and halls:

The thematic sections of the museum’s exposition reveal the history of the study of Siberia and the role of Tobolsk as a center for complex (geographical, natural science and historical-ethnographic) research. The stages of studying the region, the materials of complex academic expeditions, the contribution of prominent Russian and foreign scientists to the process of learning Siberia are presented. The exposition includes models of vehicles of pioneers and research expeditions - Siberian Koch and the Tobol dinghy , copies of maps of Siberia of the 17th – 18th centuries, a copy of the first atlas of Siberia Semen Remezov and other exhibits.

On the history of the house of A.A. Dunin-Gorkavicha along Bolshaya Petropavlovskaya (now 5 Oktyabrskaya Street) is told by archival documents and photographs of the estate and its residents in different years.

Many outstanding people were born or lived in Tobolsk, who brought the city world fame. It is with these famous historical characters that the portrait gallery "Glorious Names of the Land of Tobolsk" introduces visitors.

The main thematic memorial core of the museum’s concept was the presentation of the personality of the researcher of the Tobolsk North Alexander Alexandrovich Dunin-Gorkavich, whose fate is closely connected with Tobolsk.

In June 1890 , by order of the Russian Forestry Corps, A. A. Dunin-Gorkavich was appointed first rank forester of the Samarovsky forestry of the Tobolsk province, the country's largest forestry. It was from this time that his research work on the study of geography and ethnography of the Tobolsk North began, to which he devoted 37 years of his life.

The memorial office of the researcher of Siberia A. A. Dunin-Gorkavich presents a collection of memorial things and manuscripts by A. A. Dunin-Gorkavich, introduces the biography and research activities of the forest scientist, geographer, ethnographer, economist, specialist in the field of fishing, fish farming, agriculture .

Museum of the History of the Development and Study of Siberia named after A. A. Dunin-Gorkavich cooperates with modern researchers of Siberia, providing an opportunity to implement interesting exhibition projects in the museum exposition space. The first such experience is the exhibition of the Tobolsk archaeologist A. A. Adamov in the exhibition hall of the museum "Mosaic of the Millennium", which through artifacts V millennium BC. e. - XVI century n e. talks about the material and spiritual culture of the ancient and medieval population of Siberia.

Location

The museum is located in the main house of the memorial estate of the outstanding Siberian researcher of the late XIX - early XX centuries, preserved to the present day. - Forestry scientist, geographer, ethnographer, economist, specialist in the field of fishing, fish farming, agriculture Alexander Dunin-Gorkavich (1854-1927). The estate is located in the upland part of the city (former Bolshaya Petropavlovskaya street, now 5 October) and is a cultural monument of regional importance.
