Death

On May 6, 1996, during the civil war in Dushanbe in broad daylight, the coryphaeus of the medical science of Tajikistan, Minhoj Gulyamov, and the rector of the Tajik Medical University, Yusuf Iskhaki, were shot.

According to the data of the Prosecutor General’s Office, the scientists left the university, drove a few meters in the direction of Medgorodok, after some time they sharply picked up speed and turned towards the Botanical Garden. The car was traveling at high speed and turned in the wrong place. Nearby there was a traffic police post, but for some reason the police did not stop them. Later it turned out that the killers were already sitting in the car. When leaving the institute, the road to the Volga rector’s road was blocked by another car. Then eyewitnesses noticed that there were already five people in the Volga. Minhodzha Gulyamova, Yusuf Iskhaki and driver of the rector Viktor Khudyakov were shot directly in the car, at a dead end of Nizhnyaya Varzobskaya hydroelectric power station, at number 10. Yusuf Iskhaki fired 8 bullets, and at Minhodzha Gulyamova - 9. Gulyamov, who was sitting in the back seat, reclined on the ground.

Scientists buried the whole city. Due to the flow of people, traffic was stopped, and in Medgorodok that day thousands of people gathered for a rally. People from all over Tajikistan came to pay the last tribute to great people. After the funeral, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rakhmonov came to the families of the victims to express their condolences.
