Valentina Ivanovna Kharitonova (born May 6, 1956 , Novaya Lyada , Tambov Region , USSR ) is a Soviet and Russian ethnologist and anthropologist , leading researcher (2000) and head of the (2005) medical anthropology group, member of the Dissertation Council (Doctor), (2008) IEA RAS , doctor of historical sciences (2000), candidate of philological sciences (1983) [1] , member (2001) of the field commission of the Shamanistic Research Foundation ( USA , California ) [2] . Specialist in the field of anthropology of consciousness, ethnomedicine, psychological anthropology, anthropology of religion, social anthropology, cultural anthropology , ethnography , folklore , altered states of consciousness .

Biography

Valentina Kharitonova graduated with honors from the philological faculty of Moscow State University. M.V. Lomonosov (Department of the Russian language and literature at the Department of Russian oral folk poetry) in 1979 (the theme of the thesis: "The tradition in the genre of lamentations"). At the same time (1977–1979) she graduated with honors from the Faculty of History and Theory of Cinema (evening department) of the University of Marxism-Leninism of the MGK CPSU under the USSR State Cinema Committee. In 1982, she graduated from Moscow State University postgraduate study , defending a dissertation for the degree of candidate of philological sciences on the topic "East Slavic retribution (problems of poetics, typology and genesis of the genre)." In June 2000, she defended a dissertation at the IEA RAS for the degree of Doctor of Historical Sciences (in the form of a scientific report based on 84 scientific papers, including 6 monographic publications) on the topic “Folk magico-medical practices: tradition and modernity. The experience of integrated systemic and phenomenological research. ”

Valentina Kharitonova began her career at the Faculty of Philology of Moscow State University. In 1984-1991, she taught at the Leningrad State University. I. Franko ( Lviv , USSR ; Associate Professor of the Department of Russian Literature). In 1991-1993 she was on an internship (doctoral candidate) at Moscow State University. M.V. Lomonosov. In 1993-1995, as the head of the department for coordination of scientific research, she conducted research work at the All-Russian Research Center for Traditional Traditional Medicine (VNITSTNM) ENIOM. In 1996-1998 she was a scientific consultant to VITA: Traditions. The medicine. Health". Since 1998 - Senior Researcher, since 2000 - Leading Researcher, IEA RAS. Organizer and head of the "Center for the Study of Shamanism and Other Traditional Beliefs and Practices" at the IEA RAS (since 2001), head of the research group of medical anthropology (since 2005), member (since 2001) of the field commission of the Shamanistic Foundation Research (USA, California).

Scientific activity

The areas of scientific interests of Valentina Kharitonova are represented by the following topics:

  • medical anthropology and anthropology of consciousness: spell-conjuring practices, folk healing, ethnomedicine, traditional medicine, complementary medicine, integration of medical systems, altered states of consciousness and human activities in ASC (problems of generating mystical knowledge, the formation of folklore and mythological texts, perceptions of reality, supersensitive and extrasensory manifestations) [3] [4] ;
  • social anthropology and religious studies: religious-mystical and magical-mystical practices (healer-witchcraft, shamanistic); modern spiritual practices and non-religious phenomena;
  • cultural anthropology: the specifics of traditional culture, the transformation of traditions, work with sacred practices;
  • ethnography and ethnology: ritual traditions and ritual-ritual practice of the Eastern Slavs, shamanism and shamanism of the Siberian peoples, traditions of traditional medicine;
  • folklore (East Slavic) and folklore: conspiracy-spell tradition, decay-lament tradition, fairy-tale prose, anecdotes, folklore and mythology in literature, the theory of folklore.

Valentina Kharitonova in her research activities regularly conducts traditional studies of folklore and ethnographic material (field and laboratory observations, including audiovisual); comprehensive research; interdisciplinary and integrative (including experimental) studies. Valentin Kharitonov has been conducting field studies on folklore, ethnolinguistics and ethnography since 1975 - more than 40 collective expeditions and individual trips (Russian North; Polesye - Ukrainian, Belarusian, Russian; Transcarpathia; central and southern Russia; Siberia - Khakassia, Tuva, Yakutia, Buryatia, Aginsky AO, Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug). From 1990 to the present, under the leadership of Valentina Kharitonova, laboratory and experimental work has been carried out with traditional healers, healers, sorcerers, shamans (2001 - 2004 - the management of interdisciplinary research on the projects of the Russian Humanities Foundation and the Russian Federal Property Fund, conducted by a group of psychologists, psychiatrists, neurophysiologists and other specialists ) From 1985 to 1991 led a scientific and methodological seminar on the problems of East Slavic folklore and folklore, preparation for folklore-ethnographic fieldwork (Lviv State University named after I.
