Akademgorodok (Tomsk)

It was founded on June 9, 1969.

The construction of the Tomsk Academgorodok began in 1972. The decision to create the Tomsk branch of the Siberian Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences (the base of which was Akademgorodok) was made earlier, in 1969. The construction of the material base, social welfare facilities and residential buildings of Akademgorodok in the 1970s was carried out primarily by the Khimstroy management forces (supervisor was P. G. Pronyagin ).

A great contribution to the creation and development of the Academgorodok was made by a Tomsk scientist, academician V.E. Zuev , on whose shoulders lay the implementation of the project to create the Tomsk branch of the Siberian branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences, which was later transformed into the Tomsk Scientific Center of the SB RAS , whose first leaders became V.E. Zuev. Now the square at the entrance to Akademgorodok bears his name.

January 25, 1975, the grand opening of the first scientific institution of the Academgorodok - the Institute of Atmospheric Optics (the first leader - V.E. Zuev ) took place.

In December 2005, the Russian government decided to create in the country, as part of the innovation strategy, 5 pilot special economic zones of technology-innovative type. One of them was supposed to be formed in Tomsk. At the initiative of the head of the Siberian Branch of the SB RAS S. G. Psahye, a site on the territory of the Academgorodok is determined by the place for its placement. The Tomsk Special Economic Zone of the technological introduction type (also called the Tomsk SEZ or TVZ ) has been under construction in the north-eastern part of Akademgorodok since 2006 along the Development Avenue. Objects such as the Engineering and Technology Center, the Contracting Center, the Marketing Center, and the Exhibition Center have become part of the system of infrastructure elements of the Scientific Center - helping fine-tune R&D of research and development, and the primary commercialization of innovative research objects. TVZ production resident companies are building their industrial and technological facilities on the territory of the Tomsk SEZ.

An array of buildings and cottages of an elite type of housing (the Akademichesky microdistrict) was created in the eastern part of Akademgorodok; on the north side, an array of cottages of the microdistrict (village) Nauka began to adjoin the territory of Akademgorodok, originally created as a housing and construction cooperative of the faculty of TUSUR employees.
