Biography
Born in the city of Bucharest, Romania. Father - Anton Sergeyevich Kuznetsov, a culinary expert. Mother - Ekaterina Nikolaevna Kuznetsova (nee - Wolpe), housewife.
After graduating from the Chisinau Pedagogical Institute (1952), he worked as a teacher, senior lecturer, assistant to the Department of Human Physiology of the Pedagogical Institute, and head of the electroencephalography laboratory of the Chisinau Medical Institute (1954-1961).
In 1963 he defended his thesis for the degree of candidate of biological sciences on the problem of electrical potentials of single neurons in the motor zone of the cerebral cortex. In 1973 he defended his doctoral dissertation at the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences (Moscow) on the problem of the functional organization of neurons in the motor zone of the cerebral cortex.
At the Institute of Zoology and Physiology of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, he opened and led the laboratories of biophysics, neural system processes, diagnostics and prediction of the functional state of a person [1] . In scientific research, he considered himself a student and follower of Professor Anatoly Anatolyevich Zubkov (Chisinau), Professor Vorontsov Daniil Semenovich (Kiev), Academician Anokhin Peter Kuzmich (Moscow).
Scientific and educational activities
Under the leadership of S. A. Kuznetsov, 23 candidate and 3 doctoral dissertations were prepared and defended.
He developed and received a patent and copyright certificate (No. 152578) for the invention of an electronic model of a nerve cell that imitates the activity and physiological properties of a neuron, which makes it possible to solve the problems of controlling and creating a self-learning system [2] . He justified and introduced the concept of “neurocenosis” into scientific terminology - the smallest structural and functional units of the motor zone of the cerebral cortex, consisting of a certain community of neurons that process input information and form an output command, on the basis of which an elementary behavioral function is realized.
Created, tested and implemented comprehensive methods for the diagnosis and prediction of human psychophysiological health; social and environmental monitoring; identification and assessment of social and environmental risks. He organized and headed the Center for Sports Medicine of the Ministry of Sports and Tourism and the Center for Human Ecology at the National Institute of Ecology. By the decree of the President of the Republic of Moldova (No. 1075 dated 07.07. 1999), for his special merits in the development of social ecology, environmental knowledge and the training of highly qualified specialists, S. A. Kuznetsov was awarded the honorary title of Honored Science Worker of the Republic of Moldova - "Om Emerit" [ 3] .
At higher educational institutions of the cities of Chisinau, Chernivtsi, Odessa, Kuznetsov S. A. taught the standard courses: Human Physiology, Neurophysiology, Psychophysiology; special courses: Sports Psychophysiology, Labor Psychophysiology, Psychophysiology of Extreme Conditions, Biophysics of Periodic Processes (biorhythmology). In addition to academic lectures, he conducted active educational activities in the Knowledge Society and on television. Being a bright speaker, fluent in Russian and Moldavian languages, S.A. Kuznetsov delivered popular science lectures on secrets of the brain, higher nervous activity, paranormal phenomena of the human psyche.
