Aleksei Emilevich Kontorovich (born January 28, 1934 , Kharkov ) is a Soviet and Russian scientist, specialist in the field of geology and geochemistry of oil and gas. Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Laureate of the State Prize of the Russian Federation in the field of science and technology.

Biography
Born on January 28, 1934 in the city of Kharkov, Ukrainian SSR [1] .
After graduating from Tomsk State University in 1958, he worked as an engineer, senior researcher, head of the laboratory, and department. Since 1989 - Deputy Director for Research of the Siberian Research Institute of Geology, Geophysics and Mineral Resources (SNIIGGiMS). In 1989-1997 - Deputy Director, General Director of the Joint Institute of Geology, Geophysics and Mineralogy of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (OIGGM SB RAS). In 1997-2007 - Director of the Institute of Petroleum Geology SB RAS (since 2006, A. A. Trofimuk Institute of Petroleum Geology and Geophysics ). At present, an adviser to the Russian Academy of Sciences, supervisor of the Institute of Petroleum Geology and Geophysics named after A. A. Trofimuka .
Well-known scientist in the field of theoretical and applied problems of geology and geochemistry of oil and gas, creator of the scientific school of geology of oil and gas and organic geochemistry. He owns the fundamental works in the field of zoning and the evolution of oil and gas formation and the assessment of the oil and gas potential of sedimentary basins of Siberia .
The main areas of research are related to the theory of oil and hydrocarbon gas formation, migration, generation and accumulation of hydrocarbons, the geochemistry of carbon isotopes in naphthides , the history of hydrocarbon deposits, geochemical criteria and methods for predicting oil and gas potential . He developed the nonlinear theory of naftidogenesis and the main features of its evolution, studied the global laws of the distribution of oil, gas and bitumen reserves in the main stratigraphic complexes.
He made a significant contribution to the creation of modern methods for forecasting oil and gas potential, to the development of mathematical methods for such a forecast for various geological and informational situations, which made it possible to radically improve the methodology of prospective planning for exploration and oil and gas production in large regions. The studies contributed to the successful search and exploration of oil and gas resources, the creation of a new raw material base in the south of Eastern Siberia (Nepa-Botuobinskaya anteclise ). With his participation in the 1970-1980s. comprehensive development programs for exploration in East and West Siberia , Yakutia .
Under the leadership, a number of major generalizations on the geology and oil and gas potential of the West Siberian Plate and the Siberian Platform, an assessment of their oil and gas potential, and substantiation of the main directions of exploration in these regions were made. A serious achievement of Aleksei Emil'evich is the scientific substantiation of significant prospects of Precambrian oil and gas potential carried out together with academician A. A. Trofimuk and other scientists and the proof of the correctness of this forecast on the example of the Siberian platform .
One of the active organizers of science in Siberia: the founder of the Institute of Oil and Gas Geology SB RAS in Novosibirsk and the Institute of Oil and Gas Problems in Yakutsk . In recent years, he has been dealing with the problems of regional geology and geochemistry of the platform regions of Siberia. He takes an active part in the development of the energy strategy of Russia: “The Strategy for the Economic Development of Siberia”, “The Energy Strategy of Russia until 2010”, “The Energy Strategy of Russia until 2020”, “The Strategy for the Socio-Economic Development of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug”.
Actively involved in scientific and business cooperation. As a scientific consultant and expert, he works a lot with federal (Roskomnedra, Ministry of Energy , etc.) and regional (administrations, regional geological committees) governing bodies, enterprises, joint stock companies, companies engaged in the search, exploration and development of oil and gas fields in various regions Siberia .
He is a member of a number of scientific councils of the Russian Academy of Sciences , coordinator of the Siberian Oil and Gas program and the Siberia federal program.
Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences on the problems of geology and development of oil and gas fields, Novosibirsk Regional Board of the Scientific and Technical Society of Oil and Gas Industry Academician I.M. Gubkin (since 1985). Vice President, International Euro-Asian Association for Organic Geochemistry. Deputy editor-in-chief of the journal " Geology and Geophysics ", member of the editorial board of the journal " Geology of Oil and Gas ", editor-in-chief of the journal "Marine Geology" (China) .
Head of the Kemerovo Scientific Center of the SB RAS .
