The parade on Red Square on May 9, 2000 took place on the anniversary, 55th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War . The parade was hosted by the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Marshal of the Russian Federation Igor Dmitrievich Sergeev . The parade was commanded by the commander of the Moscow Military District, Colonel General Igor Evgenievich Puzanov
The parade was attended by 11 thousand people. Among them, 5 thousand veterans of the Great Patriotic War from the CIS countries and the Baltic states [1] , and 6 thousand military personnel of the modern Russian army
The Victory Parade of 2000 was the last parade in which veterans marched on Red Square on foot [2] .
Content
Parade Order
The parade began at 10 am Moscow time. The parade carried the banner of the Victory . Then followed the report of the parade commander to the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, and detour troops.
Then, Marshal of the Russian Federation Igor Sergeyev reported to the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation , President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin about the readiness of troops for the parade. The report was followed by a speech by the President.
Putin stood on the podium opposite the Mausoleum. Next to him was former president Boris Yeltsin . Moreover, the inscription "Lenin" on the mausoleum was not closed [3] , as in 1997-1999.
The historical part of the parade
The historical part of the parade was opened by the passage of Army General Vladimir Govorov . This was followed by the passage of military leaders during the Great Patriotic War. Then battalions of veterans of Karelian, Leningrad, 1st Baltic, 1st, 2nd and 3rd Belorussian and 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Ukrainian fronts passed. The march ended with a combined battalion of sailor veterans.
Costumes were sewn for veterans participating in the parade: gray-steel color for men and dark red color for women [2] .
The modern part of the parade
The modern part of the parade was opened by the passage of drummers from the Moscow Military Music College. This was followed by the passage of the following parts:
- The famous group with the State flag of the Russian Federation and the Banner of Victory
- The famous company of the Moscow Military Institute , carrying 150 banners of the war period
- Guard of Honor battalion in the form of the Ground Forces , Air Force and Navy
- Three battalions in the form of times of World War II
- Combined Arms Academy of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation
- Peter the Great Military Academy of Strategic Missile Forces
- Military Engineering Academy named after Kuibyshev
- Military University of Radiation, Chemical and Biological Defense named after Marshal Tymoshenko
- Air Force Academy. Yu. A. Gagarina
- Military Aviation Technical University named after N.E. Zhukovsky
- Military University of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation
