NBA Career
Houston Rockets
Orry was selected in the 1992 NBA Draft under a total of 11 numbers by the Houston Rockets Club. In the first four seasons with the team, Orry won two league titles in 1994 and 1995. In the finals, Orry set two NBA records: 7 interceptions per game, and he also realized 5 accurate three-point shots in one quarter.
In February 1994, club management planned to exchange him and Matt Ballard at Detroit Pistons for Sean Elliot , but the deal did not take place due to Elliot’s injury. Orry became one of the leaders of the Rockets, and his successful shots in the last seconds of the matches gave him the nickname "Rob an important throw."
Phoenix Suns
On August 19, 1996, Orry, along with Sam Cassel , Chuck Brown, and Mark Bryant, was traded to the Phoenix Suns for the former profit center Charles Barkley . In Sanz, Orry was remembered for his quarrel with team coach Danny Ainge , in which Robert threw a towel during the game.
Los Angeles Lakers
The Incident incident resulted in Orry being suspended from the games and traded to the Los Angeles Lakers on January 10, 1997 for Cedric Ceballos . Due to the fact that the number 25 that Orry wore in the Lakers was assigned to Gail Goodrich , Orry began playing at number 5. As part of the Lakers, Orry won three consecutive league titles in 2000, 2001 and 2002.
San Antonio Spurs
At the end of the 2002/03 season, Orry became a free agent. Since his family lived in Houston , Orry decided to sign a contract with the San Antonio Spurs . In the 2004/05 season , the Spurs reached the NBA Finals, where they beat the Detroit Pistons. Successful throws by Orry in the last seconds of the games allowed Spurs to win the series with a score of 4-3. In the 2006/07 season, Orry, together with Spurs, won his 7th league title.
At the end of his career, Orry was often criticized for his dirty fouls against Steve Nash in 2007, and against David West in 2008, which is why some fans started calling him “Rob - Dirty Throw”.
At the end of the 2007/08 season, Orry became a free agent, but did not sign a contract with any team, thus ending his professional career.
