NBA Career
Sun initially applied for the 2006 NBA draft , but later withdrew it. The following year, in the 2007 draft, he was selected in the second round under the 40 Los Angeles Lakers general number. Despite the fact that he was chosen, he remained with the Olympians for another year until the signing of the contract with the Lakers in 2008. Just a few days after arriving in the United States, Sun fell ill with infectious mononucleosis and was taken to hospital. Sun's debut in the NBA took place on December 7. In the game against Milwaukee Bucks , he scored 4 points in 5 minutes of playing time. For the Lakers, Sun played just 10 matches for which he scored 6 points. In March, the Lakers transferred him from the team to the NBA Development League to the Los Angeles Di-Fenders Club. For D-Fenders, he played 6 games and scored an average of 9.8 points, made 3.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game. Due to an ankle sprain, he was forced to skip the rest of the season. During the NBA playoffs, Sun traveled with the team and participated in training, but he never came out in official matches. Yue became the second Chinese and the first of the Han people to win the NBA title.
On July 31, 2009, the Lakers severed the contract with Sun. [1]
