Dynasty of the Abbasids in the 9th century
He divided the state into two parts: the western, consisting of Ifricia , Egypt and Syria , and the eastern, which included Iraq , Iran and Arabia . The emir of the western part appointed his son - Jafar, his eastern brother - al-Muwaffak . Subsequently, he actually entrusted the management of the state to al-Muwaffak, settled in his residence in Samarra , from where he rarely traveled. In 885, Armenia finally broke away from the caliphate.
