1st formation

On July 26, 1938, the Main Military Council of the Red Army adopted a resolution to transform the Kiev Military District into the Kiev Special Military District (hereinafter KOVO), and to create army groups (prototypes of armies) in the district.

July 26, 1938 the management of the army group was formed on the basis of the management of the 6th Rifle Corps in Odessa . The Odessa Army Group (hereinafter referred to as OdAG) was an army-type association consisting of formations and units of rifle, tank and support troops, institutions and establishments deployed on the territory of Odessa, Nikolaev Regions and the Moldavian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. The formation of the management of the army group was supposed to end by September 1.

Group combat activity

1938

On July 26, the formation of the army group management began on the basis of the management of the 6th Rifle Corps in Odessa . [3] Commander F. A. Parusinov was appointed commander of the group’s forces.

On August 2, the head of the OdAG political department, M. D. Averin, was awarded the military rank of brigade commissar, order No. 00390 / p. [one]

August 15, by order of the People’s Commissar of Defense of the USSR No. 009 URy on r. The Dniester were subordinate to the commanders of the 51st and 99th regiments (db 95th), the posts of their commandants and headquarters were abolished. [four]

On September 20, 1938, to assist Czechoslovakia, the troops of the three army groups of the district, on the directive of the People’s Commissar of Defense K.E. On July 13, the Defense Committee under the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR approved Decree No. 199ss on the deployment of infantry formations. [five]

From August 1 to December 1, the following events were planned in the fortified areas: [6]

  • Rybnitsky fortified area :

1. Transfer three rifle regiments of the 95th SD to the level organization.

2. Save as a part of the district: Office of the Chief of Engineers, 65th separate artillery division, six separate caponier artillery platoons, two additional frames for separate machine-gun battalions, a chemical defense company, horse platoon, ammunition depot - 479 people.

3. Turn the 57th separate machine-gun battalion of 4 company personnel to staff the machine-gun battalions of infantry regiments of the 95th division.

4. Transfer the 110th separate machine-gun battalion, communications company, combat engineer battalion to Shepetovsky UR, with reference to the formation of the UR.

  • Tiraspol fortified area :

1. Transfer three rifle regiments of the 51st SD to the level organization.

2. Save as part of the URa: Office of the Chief of Engineers, 76th artillery division, nine separate caponier artillery platoons, three frames for a separate machine-gun battalion, a company of combat personnel, two horse platoons and an ammunition depot.

3. To form two separate platoons of caponier artillery - 22 people.

4. Turn the 64th separate machine-gun battalion to staff the machine-gun battalions of infantry regiments of the 51st SD.

On August 14, according to the List of organizational events in OdAG, the following were held:

  • The 110th separate machine-gun battalion, communications company, combat engineer battalion was transferred from the Rybnitsa UR to the Shepetovsky UR , to appeal to the formation of the UR; Three joint ventures of the 95th Infantry Division were transferred to the level organization.
  • In Tiraspol UR, three joint ventures of the 51st Infantry Division were transferred to a level organization. [6]

On August 15, People's Commissar of Defense of the USSR Marshal of the Soviet Union K. Ye. Voroshilov issued directive No. 4/2/486011 on the deployment of infantry formations for the Kiev Special Military District . [7] , [8]

On August 25, the formation of new directorates of rifle corps began, the transfer of personnel rifle divisions to a new staff of 8,900 people and the deployment of divisions of 6,000 people, the so-called triplets. [7] , [8]
