History
Construction began in 1806 on the site of an old wooden church, erected in the XVII century. and burned out during one of the fires. The temple was built for about 17 years, then rebuilt several times. In 1863, it was closed by decree of the Russian authorities.
Church services resumed at the end of the 19th century. For a long time in the altar of the temple there was a local shrine - an ancient miraculous icon of the Mother of God with Jesus blessing the world. The main altar stood out for its rich design, carvings, and gilded details. The walls of the temple, arches and columns were decorated with a variety of art murals, terracotta panels. An organ was installed in the choirs. Underground premises were occupied by crypts .
In the first years of Soviet power, church services continued; in 1937 the church was closed. In 1988, the temple was returned to the Catholic Church. Since 1990, church services have been resumed.
