Galushkin, Vasily Maksimovich

Vasily Maksimovich Galushkin (1925-1979) - participant in the Great Patriotic War , shooter of the 9th company of the 212th Guards Rifle Regiment of the 75th Guards Rifle Division of the 30th Rifle Corps of the 60th Army of the Central Front , Red Army Guard , Hero of the Soviet Union ( 1943) [1] (later - Guard Captain ).

Biography

Born on March 8, 1925 in Zinovievsk , in 1942 he graduated from a railway school, worked as a foreman at the Krasnaya Zvezda factory. In the same year he was drafted into the army by the Guryev RVC of the Kemerovo region [2] .

In the army since September 4, 1943, a shooter of the 9th company of the 212nd Guards Rifle Regiment of the 75th Guards Rifle Division . Red Army soldier Galushkin V.M. was especially distinguished when crossing the Dnieper River north of Kiev, in battles when capturing and holding a bridgehead near the villages of Glebovka and Yasnogorodka ( Vyshhorod district of Kiev region ) on the right bank of the Dnieper in the autumn of 1943. In the presentation for the award, the commander of the 212th Guards Rifle Regiment of the Guard, Colonel M. Borisov wrote [2] :

“Comrade Galushkin, not sparing his life, heroically fights with a German beast, he was the first to wade across the Dnieper River and, having crossed the western bank of the Dnieper, fearlessly launched an attack. He exterminated 6 Fritz. “On September 26, 43, near the village of Yasnogorodka, he captured a German machine gunner with an easel machine gun and delivered him to headquarters.”

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of October 17, 1943, for successfully crossing the Dnieper River north of Kiev, firmly securing the bridgehead on the western bank of the Dnieper River and showing courage and heroism of the guard, Red Army soldier Galushkin Vasily Maksimovich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the medal " The Golden Star ” [3] .

After the war, Galushkin V.M. continued to serve in the army. In 1953 he graduated from the Kiev Infantry School, served in Vologda [4] . Since 1957, the reserve captain, lived and worked in Kirovograd .

He died on September 5, 1979, was buried in the Pantheon of Glory [5] in Kirovograd .

  • A street in the city of Kirovograd is named after the Hero.
  • In the city of Belovo, a bust of Galushkin V.M. was installed and street was named after him [6] .
