Ghon's focus ( Ghon's focus, Ghon focus ) - the focus of the primary lesion of the lungs with tuberculosis , usually within the primary tuberculosis complex (i.e. in combination with regional lymphadenopathy ). Initially, it is a small (from the size of a pinhead to a cherry ) focus of granulomatous inflammation, which can be detected on a chest x-ray [1] . In most cases, it heals, leaving behind a capsule of connective tissue , in which calcium salts are subsequently deposited, but in some cases it can develop into full-fledged tuberculosis , especially if the patient has weakened immunity [1] .
The first characterization of this focus in 1912 was given by pathologist Professor Anton Gon [2] .
In an active state, it is most often found in children. The prevalence of this type of lesion is evidenced by the fact that healed foci of Gon are found in 90β97% of all corpses of adults [2] .
