Biography
He was born on August 11, 1911 in the village of Bobrava of the Russian Empire (now Belovo District, Kursk Region) into a peasant family. Ukrainian .
He graduated from 7 classes.
In the Red Army since 1933 . He graduated from junior lieutenant courses in 1938 , the courses "Shot" in 1943 . Member of the CPSU since 1940 .
At the front in World War II from April 1943 . He fought on the South-Western, 2nd and 3rd Ukrainian fronts, participated in the liberation of Voroshilovgrad , Zaporozhye , Nikolaev , Odessa , Tiraspol .
The commander of the battalion of the 619th infantry regiment, Captain Vasily Timchenko distinguished himself in the battles during the liberation of Hungary on September 25, 1944 . At the critical moment of the battle, in the area of the village of Elek, the enemy’s head tank hit an anti-tank grenade. Inspired by the example of the commander, the battalion's soldiers repelled 11 enemy counterattacks, inflicting significant damage on manpower and equipment.
After the war, Timchenko continued to serve in the army. In 1950 he graduated from the Military Academy named after M.V. Frunze . Since 1964, Lt. Col. Timchenko - in stock.
He lived in Rostov-on-Don. He worked as a teacher at a medical institute .
He died on March 15, 2000, was buried in Rostov-on-Don.

- The busts of the Hero are installed in the Alley of Heroes of the village of Rakitnoye and in his homeland in the village of Bobrava.

- The title of Hero of the Soviet Union was awarded by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on March 24, 1945 .
