Biography

Stefano Di Battista was born in Rome on February 14, 1969 in a family of music lovers. At the age of thirteen, Stefano played the saxophone in a band that consisted of children and orchestras . Stefano fell in love with music and went to study at the conservatory, he began to improve his technique, in addition, studied the classical repertoire, graduated from the conservatory and received a diploma with honors. Then Stefano Di Battiste was 21 years old [2] .

In 1992, Stefano attended the Calvi Jazz Festival and met French musicians who asked him to play in Paris . Stefano traveled from Paris to Rome for two whole years. He began his own musical career in Paris. He collaborated with such stars as: Daniel Humare, Jimmy Cobb, Walter Booker, Nat Edderley. Stefano Di Battista spoke about his first promotion in the jazz style:

I am constantly looking for this spirit of jazz, which is in the music of Cannonball Adderley ( born Cannonball Adderley ). I like the idea of ​​free distribution of music, despite all the complexity of the compositions. Jazz is music that can bring people together, on the stage I try to share a good mood with people [2] .

The musician’s first solo album , Volare , was recorded in 1997 via Label Bleu. The album was very successful and was nominated for the Victories de la Musique , and Stefano was nominated for the "Musician of the Year" in Italy. In 1998, Stefano signed a contract with the jazz label Blue Note, where he recorded the second solo album, A Prima Vista , which received great acclaim in America . The drummer on this album was Alvin Jones (who played with John Coltrane ). Stefano continued to record discs on the label. In 2000, the musician released the same name under the name Stefano Di Battista .

In 2002, Italian musicians Gabin invited Stefano Di Battista to record three songs for the album Gabin . Stefano Di Batista played saxophone parts in the compositions “Doo Uap, Doo Uap, Doo Uap”, “Urban Night” and “La Maison (Di Battista's Dream)”.

The next album was Round About Roma ( 2003 ), followed by Parker's Mood ( 2005 ) and Trouble Shootin ' ( 2007 ). In the same 2007 he took part in the recording of the fortieth album of Adriano Celentano - Dormi amore, la situazione non è buona [3] . Stefano's latest album at the moment, Women's Land , was released in 2011 [2] .

After releasing several albums and substantiating the jazz arena, Di Batista feels violent and lyrical energy. One of his releases is dedicated to the work of Charlie Parker . Stefano Di Batista confidently wins the recognition of the best European artist of the jazz scene [2] .
