Biography

Born on April 4 ( April 17 ), 1901 [1] in the city of Alatyr (now Chuvashia) in the family of a railway employee. In 1919, he volunteered for the Red Army , after demobilization in 1923 he entered the Moscow Construction College , which he graduated in 1927.

Work at State Aviation Plant No. 22

In the same year he joined the design bureau of Plant No. 22 named after the 10th anniversary of the October Revolution as a draftsman, and in 1929 he was appointed junior engineer. In 1932 he graduated from the Moscow Aviation Institute without interruption. As deputy chief designer of design bureau of plant No. 22, he supervised the preparation and conversion of TB-3 aircraft for the expedition of O. Yu. Schmidt to the North Pole . According to his instructions, production aircraft were converted for this purpose. They installed additional tanks, heating furnaces, special equipment, etc.

Jobs at TsKB-29

In 1938 he was arrested, after which he worked in the special technical bureau of the NKVD of the USSR (“ sharashka ”) TsKB-29, deputy designer A.N. Tupolev , with whom he then worked all his life.

Work at OKB-156

After his release, he worked in OKB-156 as deputy chief designer. In 1941, the design bureau was evacuated to Omsk , where the construction of an aircraft plant began. N.I. Bazenkov was appointed A.N. Tupolev as the head of the design and construction of the experimental and serial Tu-2 aircraft.

With the end of World War II, N. I. Bazenkov led the work on the Tu-14 jet. While working in the Design Bureau of A. N. Tupolev as his deputy, N. I. Bazenkov, along with the leadership of one of the design divisions, at the same time was the head (chief designer) of the Tu-95 aircraft and all its modifications, including long-distance passenger, since 1952 Tu-114 aircraft, and also took part in the creation and implementation of the production of many aircraft. In 1971 he was appointed First Deputy General Designer and Executive Director of the Design Bureau A. N. Tupolev (MMZ "Experience").

He loved to play the violin (being in TsKB-29, made a violin with his own hands) and make copies with oil by Russian artists. Died April 13, 1973 . He was buried in Moscow at the Novodevichy cemetery .

  • brother - Bazenkov, Boris Ilyich (1896-1938), a graduate and instructor of the Baku Naval Aviation Officer School, commander, repressed; rehabilitated in 1956.
  • daughter - Bazenkova Elena Nikolaevna (b. 1941), worked as an engineer at VIAM.
  • son - Bazenkov, Lev Nikolaevich (1927-2010), worked in the OKB A.N. Tupolev, specialist in aircraft equipment, deputy. chief designer for Tu-160 , an honorary aircraft manufacturer, awarded orders and medals.

In the postwar years, he lived at: Bakhrushin street, house 28, apt. 34.
