Shcheglovitov

The Shcheglovitovs are two ancient Russian noble families , called in the 17th century the Sheklovitovs or the Shaklovitovs and in 1716, at the behest of Peter the Great, renamed the Shcheglovitovs [1] .

One genus of this surname originates from Vasily Fedorovich Shaklovity , who was granted in 1677 for service by the Shchurye estate and recorded in the VI part of the noble genealogy of the Oryol and Chernihiv provinces of the Russian Empire [2] .

  • Shaklovity, Fyodor Leontyevich (the Bolshoi) (mid 1640s - 1689) - devious , favorite of Tsarevna Sofya Alekseevna .

Another kind of Shcheglovitovs comes from Grigory Prokofievich Nezhdanov Shcheglovitov, who was granted in 1682 " for military service and courageous actions " by local salary. This genus was recorded by the Provincial Noble Assembly in the VI part of the genealogy of the Kursk and Oryol provinces of Russia [1] [3] .

Several more genera of the Scheglovitovs of a later origin are known [1] .

Emblem Description

In the azure shield, a golden lion, turned to the left, holds a golden wreath with a silver sword with a golden hilt and a golden mace threaded through it. At the top of the shield is a golden sun with a golden glow.

Above the shield, a noble crowned helmet. Crest - arm in armor holds a silver with a gold hilt curved sword and a golden mace. Slime azure with gold. Shield holders: two archers with hatchets lowered. Under the shield in the middle, cross the cannon barrel and the club. On the right is the core in the pyramid, on the left is the timpani. The coat of arms is recorded in Part XX of the General Herbarium of the noble families of the All-Russian Empire , page 16 [4] .
