The night of Bara'at ( Arabic: ليلة البراءة - Lailat al-Baraa) is one of the nights revered by Muslims and is celebrated on the night of the 14th to the 15th day of the month of Shaban [1] . In Islam, this day is considered the day of liberation or remission of sins. On Bara'at night, Muslims usually spend vigil, read the Qur'an and pray [2] .
Baraat translated from Arabic means “non-involvement”, “complete separation”, “purification” [3] .
It is believed that on this night the destinies of people, blessings, death, illnesses will change and will be transferred to the corresponding angels [4] . It is believed that it was on this night that Allah gave the Prophet Muhammad the right of intercession ( shafaat ) for all Muslims [1] . On this night, Muslims are encouraged to ask Allah to accept good deeds and forgive sins, as well as to remember and wish mercy, forgiveness, welfare to dead Muslims and to tell children about the dignity and worth of this night [3] . On the night of Baraat, it is advisable to read a prayer: “Oh, Allah! I resort to Your forgiveness from torment, to Your contentment from Your anger. I am powerless to give sufficient praise to you. You are as great as you yourself praised ” [4] . On this night, all human sins are forgiven, except for “big ones” (intrigues against other people, drinking alcohol, witchcraft , not honoring one's parents, etc.) [1] .
Undesirable activities that night include cooking special dishes, highlighting houses or mosques, holding religious meetings and giving long lectures, performing collective prayers [1] and dhikers [5] .
Hadith
- As soon as night falls in the middle of the month of Shaban, spend it in worship, and during the day hold fast. After all, Allah that night, starting from sunset, sends His mercy to the firmament of the earth and commands: “Are there no penitents to Me - I will forgive them, are there any those who ask for blessings - I will give them, if there are those covered in the disease - I will send healing ...” . And so it goes on until the morning [4] .
- Allah in the middle of the month Shaban looks at the position of His slaves. He forgives all their sins, except polytheists and vindictive [4] .
- This is the middle night of the sha'ban. Allah frees a large number of people from Fire, more than the hairs growing on the sheep of the Kalb tribe. But He does not even look at the person who gives Allah companions, and at the one who cultivates evil intent in his heart against someone, and at the one who breaks family ties, and at the person who leaves his clothes hanging below his ankles (as a sign pride), and the one who disobeys the parents, and the one who has the habit of drinking wine [5] .
