Biography

Jean-Philippe was the illegitimate son of the regent of France and Prince of Blood Philip II Charles de Bourbon and his mistress Marie-Louise-Madeleine-Quiz Le Belle de La Boissiere , Countess d'Argenton (1684-1747). In 1706, Philippe de Bourbon recognizes the child and adopts him. Already in childhood, the lands and incomes of Otvillière Abbey are written off to seignorial ownership to Jean-Philippe.

Having entered the military service, Jean-Philippe in June 1718 was appointed general of the French galley fleet. Although this title at that time in France had an exclusively honorable, titular appointment, the young aristocrat took it very seriously, and already in the same 1718 he took up a serious study of navigation and maritime affairs. Having secured the allocation of state funds, he builds new vessels and creates a revived, capable rowing fleet. However, 3 years after the death of Jean-Philippe, the marine rowing hull he created was abolished.

Jean-Philippe was also elected Grand Prior of the Order of Malta in France. After taking the residence of the Prior in Paris Temple after that, he uses it for high-profile festivals and festivals.

From the love affair of Jean-Philippe of Orleans with Amalia-Gabriela de Noyle (1702-1742), the daughter of Marshal of France Adrien-Maurice de Noyle was born Amalia-Angelique de Villiers (1723-1771), whom he engaged to Guy Felix Pinatelli in 1744 , Count Egmont, Prince of Le Havre (1720-1753).
