Biography
Born June 28, 1913 in Baku, an orphan. He was brought up in a shelter. He was adopted by the family of the sailor Yermil Tikhomolov. In 1918, the family left Baku and, after wandering around the cities of Russia, settled in Tashkent.
In 1933 he graduated in Balashov from the 3rd United School of Pilots and Aircraft of the Civil Air Fleet (GVF). He worked as a pilot of the Civil Air Fleet in Tashkent. Carried by air passengers, cargo, mail. Member of the CPSU (b) / CPSU since 1939 .
In the Red Army since April 1942. In the battles of World War II from April 1942. The pilot of the 750th Aviation Regiment (17th Aviation Division, ADD) Captain Boris Tikhomolov, by August 1942, made twenty-five combat sorties to bombard military industrial centers and important targets in the enemy's rear. He carried out night bombing strikes on airfields, railway junctions, echelons, clusters of enemy troops in the areas of Smolensk , Orsha, Vitebsk , Bryansk , Kharkov , Kursk , Voronezh , and on German industrial facilities in Berlin and Königsberg .
In December 1942, Boris Tikhomolov was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the awarding of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal [1] .
In November-December 1943, Major B. E. Tikhomolov, together with other crews, served the Tehran Conference of the Heads of Government of the anti-Hitler coalition (November 28 - December 1, 1943). April 16, 1945 participated in the Berlin operation . In total, during the war years B.E. Tikhomolov made 212 sorties.
In 1945, Major B.E. Tikhomolov was dismissed from the reserve. He worked as a flight instructor at the Main Directorate of Geodesy and Cartography under the Council of Ministers of the USSR.
He was a member of the Union of Writers of the USSR. His first story appeared in 1950. Then, after a five-year break, he resumed literary work - his stories, essays, and critical articles began to appear in various newspapers and magazines. The first book of his stories “Sapar-Batyr” was published in Moscow, in Detgiz, in 1958. In this small collection, the writer's “vein” of B. E. Tikhomolov, his ability to lyrically and succinctly draw the harsh nature of Central Asia and courageous people-pilots appeared. In literary work, Tikhomolov found his second life vocation. He came to literature not just as an experienced person, who had seen a lot and therefore turned to memories, namely, as an artist who looks at the world in his own way and has the ability to speak with a young reader.
In the autobiographical trilogy Romance of the Sky, Boris Tikhomolov described his path to the profession of a pilot, starting from childhood and adolescence, ending with the years of World War II [2] .
He lived in the city of Tashkent . He died on December 17, 1991 . He was buried in Tashkent on the Alley of Heroes of the Volgograd cemetery.
Rewards
- By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated December 31, 1942 for exemplary performance of command missions on the front of the struggle against Nazi invaders and courage and heroism shown to this, Captain Tikhomolov Boris Yermilovich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin (No. 12172) and Gold Star medals (No. 771) [1] .
