Biography
From an old noble family. Born in a teacher's family [1] . He studied at Moscow schools No. 7 and No. 528.
During the Great Patriotic War he worked at a military factory.
He entered the Moscow State Pedagogical Institute. V.I. Lenin , but in 1948 he was convicted under article 58-10, part 2 . He served his sentence in Butyrka prison, in the camps of Vorkuta and Mordovia. Released in 1953
In 1955 he graduated from Moscow State Pedagogical Institute. V.I. Lenin, for some time worked as a teacher in an orphanage. I could not find a job as a teacher because of a criminal record in a political article, so I went to the bookseller (in 1942 I worked in a second-hand bookstore in Moscow). Since 1955, he served in Moskotigotorg, since 1958 - in the Office of Commerce of the Central Union.
In 1958-1964 taught at the Moscow Cooperative Institute. Since 1964 - Dean, Professor (1982), Head of the Department of the Moscow Polygraphic Institute .
In 1969 he defended his thesis for the degree of candidate of philological sciences on the topic "The History of Book Trade as a Scientific Discipline" [2]
In 1980 he defended his thesis for the degree of Doctor of Historical Sciences on the topic "Historical and Bibliological Study of the Construction of Socialist Book Trade in the USSR" [3]
He was friends with the restorer Nedovich Nikolai Dmitrievich .
He was buried in Moscow at the Khovansky cemetery [4] .
Family
He raised four children: Maria, Alexei, Alexander and Elena.
Scientific activity
Book historian, book scholar. He studied the history of books, especially book trade and book distribution. Author and co-author of 15 textbooks, including the world's first textbook for antiquarian-second-hand book dealers (Second-hand book trade. - M., 1990).

Literary activity
He dreamed of writing historical novels as a child. The first poem - “The Name of the Leader” - was published in the newspaper “Pedagogical Personnel” on January 5, 1946. In the 1940s He wrote two stories: “The Book of Genesis” and “On the Other Side of the Night” (not published anywhere, served as an occasion for arrest) [5] . Member of the Union of Writers since 1975. He gained fame as the author of seven historical novels and short stories published in 1960-1990:
