Biography
Born February 11, 1896 . Member of the First World War . For military distinctions awarded the Iron Cross 1st and 2nd class. In 1919-24, an active member of the brigade Ehrhardt . In 1932 joined the Nazi Party (ticket number 948 753). On July 1, 1937 the head of the settlement authority at the General Directorate of the SS for race and settlement , in 1939 the head of the Land Administration in Prague . From October 1, 1940 to July 21, 1942 Head of the 3rd (Accounting) Directorate of the Main Directorate of the SS. In 1942 he was transferred to the General Commissariat of Belarus, where he headed one of the combat groups of the SS , designed to fight the partisans . In addition, Gottberg was entrusted with the functions of the Commander of the SS forces and the police in the Commissariat. From March 24, 1943 at the same time was the deputy chief of the SS and police of Central Russia.
On July 5, 1943, Erich Bach-Zelevsky was absent as the highest head of the SS and the police of Central Russia, from June 21 to August 7, 1944 he officially held the post. September 23, 1943 after the murder of General Commissar William Kuba by partisans took his post. His powers expanded to the eastern and southern regions of Belarus, which were previously subordinate to the leadership of Army Group Center and the Reich Commissariat of Ukraine .
