Panshin town - Cossack town, built on an island closer to the right side of the Don and surrounded by wooden tyn. It was located on a wreck from the Volga to the Don (from Tsaritsyn to Panshin there were 3 days of moving west) [1] , above (north) the village of Golubinskaya and south of the city of Ilovlya .
History
Known since the 17th century .
Here in 1667, Stepan Razin established his residence. During the First Azov campaign , the main supply base of the Russian army was located in Panshin.
In 1697–1699, 4 battleships “Fortress” , “Scorpio”, “Flag” and “Star” for the Azov fleet were built at the Panshin Shipyard [2] .
During the Bulavinsky uprising, the town became the center of fierce battles.
April 8 (19) - April 9 ( 20 ), 1708 , at the town of Panshin, the Bulavin rebels defeated a three-thousandth detachment of the Cherkasy chieftain L.M. Maximov .
On August 23 ( September 3 ), 1708 , the regiments of P. Khovansky and the cavalry of the Kalmyk khan Ayukaya approached Panshin. In a fierce battle, the four thousandth rebel army was defeated. Ataman Khokhlach died in battle.
Currently, the city does not exist, although the toponym inherits the village of Panshino, Gorodishchensky district, Volgograd region [3] .
