Biography

The father of the future writer was a teacher. He spent his childhood at his parents' house in Chazma , studied at the Pozhega and Zagreb gymnasiums, and received an agricultural education in Krizhevtsev . After World War I continued his education in France. Returning to his homeland, he worked as an agronomist in Krizhevtsy, Chazma, Gorni Khrushevets , Petrinya , Slavonski Brod , Pozhega and Bozh'yakovina ).

Creativity

Kolar's first collection of “Smile Tales” was published in 1917. Representative of a democratic realistic trend in Croatian literature. The main theme of the author’s works is the life of peasants and provincial intelligentsia. The works of S. Kolar from peasant life are distinguished by simplicity of composition, restraint and severity of the narration. Brilliant humorist and satirist. Books S. Kolar contain elements of political satire and humor . His talent was particularly evident in the creation of psychological satire.

From his pen came out several collections of short stories, six theater plays and four film and one television screenplay, eight popular science books on agronomy, and others.

During the life of the author was published over a hundred of his works.

He died in 1963 and was buried in the Mirogoy cemetery of Zagreb.
