Biography

Born in 1203 in Damascus . He died a violent death in obscure circumstances: either at the hands of robbers, or as a result of an attack by assassins dissatisfied with his work in 1267.

The main famous work of Abu Sham al-Maqdisi “ Kitab ar-Raudatayn fi akhbar ad-daulatayn an-nuriya wa-s-salahiya ” (الكتاب الروضتين في أخبار الدولتين النورية و Книга Книга reign of Nur al-Din Mahmoud and Salah al-Din .

The composition, according to experts, is primarily of a compiler nature. However, it is of particular value to history, since it contains evidence of the most interesting authors whose works were lost, or were considered as such during the first publication of the French 16-volume collection “Historians of the Crusades” ( Recueil des Historiens des Croisades ) (1841-1906) ) [3] . Among these authors are primarily Ibn al-Kalanisi, whose manuscript was found only at the beginning of the 20th century, as well as the Shiite historian from Aleppo Ibn Abi-tai-ti and the secretary of Salah ad-Din Al-Qadi al-Fadil.

In addition, his books are known.

  • "Al Ba'is ala Inkaril Bid'a val Havadis."
  • Zail 'ala-r-Raudatine
