About the album
Forgiving Rose of Cimarron , former Loggins & Messina saxophonist Al Garth joined Poco, but he soon left the band due to internal conflicts.
The title track, written by Rusty Young and narrating about Rosa Dunn (also known as Rosa Simarron), a friend of George Newcomb, one of the criminals of the Wild West , has become one of the most famous songs of the group. She was released as a single with the song “Tulsa Turnaround” on the back. In 1981, a cover version of this song, performed by country singer Emmylou Harris, opened her album Cimarron .
