Banatska Palanka is located between the tributaries of the Danube : the Nera and Karash , near their mouth in the town of Stara Palanka . The first settlement was founded here in the 17th century, north of the town of Stara Palanka . At the beginning of the XIX century Palanka is a relatively large port on the Danube, and the current Banatska Palanka is 1.5 ... 2 km from the modern channel of the Danube. The current Stara Palanka on the bank of the Danube, although it is located 2 km from the village of Banatska Palanka , is still part of it. There are 13 houses in Staraya-Palanka, and there is also a ferry across the Danube.

Palanka is the name of this place from the Middle Ages, and was formerly called the Choir , which meant a pagan temple surrounded by a wall. In the XVI century, it was mentioned as Yeni-Palanka and Uy-Palanka , in 1713 Prkos-Palanka , in the XVIII ... XIX centuries Neu-Palanka ( German Neu-Palanka ) and Nova-Palanka , in 1873 Uy-Palenko ( O- Palanka , German Uj-Palänka , Hungarian. Ó-Palánka ) and Nova-Palanka , in 1894 Palenk ( Temeshpalanka , German. Palänk , Hungarian. Palánk (Temespalánka) ), in 1918 - Palanka . Judging by the results of archaeological excavations, the local places were already settled in the stone and in the bronze centuries.
