Delta Burke ( born Delta Burke , born July 30, 1956) is an American actress best known for her role in the comedy series Creating a Woman (1986-1991).

Life and career
Burke was born in Orlando, Florida and raised without a father [4] . After graduation, she participated and won several beauty contests, including the "Miss Florida" 1974 [5] . She later participated in Miss America , but lost.
After success at beauty contests, Burke began her television career with appearances in sitcoms. In 1982, she received her first major role in the series Widow’s House, which lasted only a year on the air. Although Burke starred in several more television shows, she came true success after one of the main roles in the sitcom " Creating a Woman ", which brought her two nominations for the Emmy Award for Best Actress in a comedy series . After the series ended, she starred in the sitcoms Delta (1992-1993) and Women at Home (1995), both of which were closed after one season.
Since the early 1990s, Burke's weight has been the subject of discussion in the yellow press. Her struggles with weight, depression and eating disorders have been the subject of parodies in many shows, including Saturday Night Live .
In 2000, Burke returned to the profession, losing weight after she was diagnosed with diabetes. She starred in the sitcom "Doug", which was closed after one season, and also appeared in the movie " What Women Want ." After she appeared in the Broadway musical Thoroughly Modern Millie , replacing the late Dixie Carter , with whom she had previously starred in Creating a Woman . In recent years, Burke has appeared in the series Boston Lawyers and Beautiful to the Dead .
In the spring of 2012, Burke made an attempt to return to the screens with the main role in the sitcom of the ABC channel [6] . In the middle of filming a pilot episode, the actress was injured in his production and it was planned that she would be able to return to filming in a week [7] . As a result, Burke was unable to return to finish the pilot and the channel decided to curtail the project due to injury to the leading actress [8] .
