Kurtis Kraft is an American company, designer and manufacturer of racing cars. Since the late 1930s, the cars it has produced have participated in a variety of motorsport competitions in the United States.
From 1950 to 1960, racers on Kurtis Kraft cars in large numbers participated in the Indianapolis-500 race, included in the World Championship offset. This company became the most successful of the designers of cars that participated in the Indy-500 of those years: it has 5 out of 11 victories, 6 pole positions, 7 fastest laps. Pilots on these cars won 131 points, that is, almost half of all points played.
In addition to participating in the Indy-500, this brand also included one participation in the US Grand Prix of 1959 : Roger Ward took part at the wheel of the midget, hoping that he would be able to compensate for the lag behind European cars due to the greater cornering speed. In fact, the lag was too big - Ward lost 40 seconds per lap, and by the middle of the race by 20 laps, he got off quietly due to the failure of the clutch.
