History

It was founded in 1826 by immigrants from Attu Island (one of the Aleutian Islands ).

Decree of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee on January 10, 1932 from the island Aleutian native region formed the Aleutian national region with an administrative center in the village of Nikolsky on the island of Bering [4] .

At the beginning of the XXI century, Nikolskoye remained the only inhabited locality in the archipelago. Previously, there were also settlements Northern, Sarannoe on the island of Bering and Preobrazhenskoe on the island of Medny , whose inhabitants were resettled in Nikolskoye in the 1960s .

Electricity is provided by the village from a local diesel power station. Also installed wind power plants with a total capacity of 550 kW [24] , however, their operation is virtually discontinued.

The village of Nikolskoye is provided with air traffic from the Nikolskoye airport , located 4 km from the village, with flights to Ust-Kamchatsk and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky .

The cargo-passenger sea traffic with the port of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky is carried out year-round.

On September 17, 2010, the village was visited by the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill and consecrated the foundation for the future church. In the summer of 2012, the construction of the temple of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in the village was completed [25] .
