It is located 34 kilometers northeast of the city of Ostashkov . Located on the open top of a gentle hill, rising to the northeast of Lake Kamenny . It is connected by a half-kilometer country road only to the Horowitz station on the railway “Bologoye — Ostashkov — Velikie Luki”. The connection with the village of Shchuchye , which lies 5 km west of the village and has a regular bus service to Ostashkov, is only on horseback along difficult-going forest roads around the lake or through Lukyanovo . Mobile shop does not come. By rail to Ostashkov 35 km - further than to Firov (15 km) - the center of the neighboring area.

The population at the 2002 census was 32 people, 12 men, 20 women.

History

In 1848 in the village of Gorovastytsa of the Shchuch'ensky parish of the Shchuch'ensky volost of the Ostashkov district of the Tver province there were 21 courtyards. In 1859 [2] , 182 landlord peasants already lived in 28 yards. After the abolition of serfdom by 1889, the population increased to 259 people. The distance from the village to the nearest school in the village of Shchuchye is 5 versts.

In those days, the village was famous for producing the so-called “bridgeins” from the pine tree, that is, baskets that were brought to Ostashkov for sale.

In the 1930s, in the village of Gorovastitsa of the Shchuch'ensky Village Council of the Ostashkovskiy District of the Western Oblast (from 1935 in the Kalinin Oblast ), the Victory collective farm was established, which had 1,260 hectares of land. On the farm worked forge. In addition to agricultural work, the peasants were engaged in woodworking. Before the war, there were 37 farms in the village.

During the war in the village operated hospital, which brought the wounded in the battle in Demyansk boiler. At the same time halfway to Lukyanov a cemetery with a mass grave arose. Since then, it has increased many times.

After the war in 1950, 359 people lived in the village, including many immigrants from the occupied areas. After 18 years by 1968, many of them had dispersed and the population was reduced to 125 people. And after another two decades, by 1989, 44 people remained in Horowitz in 24 farms. As of January 1, 1998, 29 people lived in 18 households.
