The Federal State Budgetary Institution Scientific Research Financial Institute (NIFI) is a departmental institution of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation ( Moscow ).

The Institute was founded in 1937 as a unit of the People's Commissariat of Finance . Initially, the structure of the institute included 7 divisions - sections. Since 1939 , the first reform of the structure of the institute took place - now it consisted of 5 research groups. Since 1956 - at the institute: 7 departments and 18 sectors subordinate to them; since 1960 - 8 branches.
In February 2012, the institute celebrated its 75th anniversary [1] . In its present form, the institute has existed since 2012, after it was withdrawn from the structure of the State University of the Ministry of Finance of Russia . Currently, the institute has 17 research centers.
